Finnsheep

Shanty Bay Stables has been breeding Finnsheep since 2017. Our original stock comes from Dover Farms. The finnsheep is a breed of domestic sheep, native to Finland. It is one of several Northern European short-tailed sheep breeds, but is notable for its high incidence of multiple births – it is common for a ewe to have three, four, or even five lambs at once. High quality fleeces ideal for hand spinning or felting. Naturally coloured. Great milk production, can feed triplets easily. Can be hand milked. Average triplets and can lamb out of season. Very high quality “gourmet “ meat. Gentle, friendly curious personalities and are suitable for zero graze or pasture raised lamb.
